Camp-Reading create tasks

                                                              Hey everyone!

There was no WALT on the Ruru.

Yesterday was the first day of term 4 (for me it was) and for reading our create task/ story's were what Ruru were doing next week! Next week Ruru is going on camp for 3 days so our 3 story's we had to read and our 3 create tasks were based around nature/camp. Before we started on our create tasks we had to read 3 story's they were the danger man, this story is when they were at camp and they decided to go to the lake but one boy got stuck and the had to save him. The second story was School camp fun, this story is about when they got to camp and what the did. The last story was a play and was a bush walk. It was called bush walk too! For Create task 1 we were put into groups for maps and stuff. For Create task 2 we had to make a name tag for our bunks for camp. For Create task 3 we had to learn about things about New Zealand and make a Pickto chart with 10 or more facts on it. This week was really fun and I loved the create tasks


Create task 1: For this one it was fun on paper and it was a map with numbers in each squares. We had to fill in the squares with the drawings we had to do (they were on the side) sorry if my explaining is confusing.

Create task 2: If you had a read through the big text at the top you would have saw that next week Ruru is going to camp and for our cabins and our bunks we got to make tags for our bunks. Mine was on a piece of paper shaped really cool and my bestfriend Shakima drew a eye in the corner and I had light blue blending into the dark blue.

Chinese language week!

 Hey everyone! 

This week is Chinese language week, so our create tasks were based off of that! First we had to read or listen to the story. Then for the create tasks we had 4 that we needed to complete. The create tasks this week are really fun and it can make you learn a lot of new things that you may of not known before. You will see my create tasks that I do down bellow. Comment what you thought of my work! 

WALT: Use personal experience and literacy knowledge to make meaning from texts.


Create task 1: For this create task we had to re-create a scene from the story that you liked the most. You could do it on paper or on your Chromebook and I did it on my Chromebook. The comic had to have 5 comic bits.



Create task 2: I haven't done this yet.


Create task 3: For this create task we had 2 pieces of paper and we needed to colour it in. One  side was a ox and the other was a cow. I did this but I didn't take a photo of it.

Born to run

Hey everyone!

WALT: Locate and summarise important information from a range of related texts.

This week I was reading born to run. This book is about a man and he ran about 160 km per week. This week we were still reading things about the Olympics but this was our last week. This was really fun to learn about and the book was really cool to read. The thing I really liked watching when the Olympics were live on tv is the diving. I liked this because the things the people were doing looked really cool and hard. It also looked a bit scary because of how high they were above the ground.

Create task one: This was to choose an Olympian, I did Sarah Walker. Then we had to say why we chose her. This was fun to do because I liked reading about what she did in the Olympics and what medals she won.


Create task 2: For this create task we had to choose a country that was taking part in the Tokyo Olympics and find out facts about it. When we finished we had to write 20 facts about that country and the Olympics. I chose to do Japan! This was fun to do but I found it a bit hard to find facts because it was coming up with all the country's because the country I was doing was where it was held.

The Cindy Olympics

 Hey everyone.

As you know at the moment it's the Olympics. This week for reading Ruru's reading was based off of the Olympics. I did The Cindy Olymics. This was about a girl who wanted to do the Olympics so she was practicing but then she broke her leg. This week was really fun but today I was rushed because yesterday I was at zones for winter sports and the day before I wasn't here. I hope you like my working and comment bellow!

Create task 2: For this create task we had to choose a country that is doing a Olympics and write 20 facts about it.

Albert Einstein!

                                                        Hey everyone!

WALT: Locate and summarise important information to a range of related texts. I think this means to take all the texts of information that you were reading/watching then put all that information into a small sentence and to relate with other texts.

Last week and last week Ruru was reading about famous people! Last week I did Anne Frank and this week I Albert Einstein! This was really fun to read because Albert Einstein is really smart and interesting. This week we have the same create tasks as last week. Before we did our create tasks we had to read the main texts and then we had to read the texts (Complementary and challenge) Just in case you don't know who Albert Einstein is: Albert Einstein, (born March 14, 1879, Ulm, WΓΌrttemberg, Germany died April 18, 1955, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.), German-born physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect.

Create task 1: For this create task you had to write what happens in the main texts and the 2 other texts and stuff! This was really fun to do.


Create task 2: For this create task you had to make a copy of a google drawing and fill it out. This was really fun because I liked writing down all the facts I learnt! Also there was a part 2 for create task 2 and it was why that person is an inspiration! I liked doing that because I find Albert Einstein really interesting.

Create task 3: Come up with how you can be inspirational. The part 2 is to make a inspirational poster. 

You can be inspirational by following your dreams, never giving up and having a big imagination. By trying new things and staying on the positive side!

Anne Frank! W9 T2 Reading

                                                         Hey everyone!

WALT: Locate and summarise important information to a range of related texts. I think this means to take all the texts of information that you were reading/watching then put all that information into a small sentence and to relate with other texts.

This week Ruru was reading about famous and inspirational people! I was reading about Anne Frank. This was so cool and Anne is a really brave girl and I feel like she deserved better. Anne Frank was alive when world war ll was happening. She was a Jew and had to hide from the Nazis with her family and other people that were helping her hide. She lived in a home but down a hall way was a book shelve that opened and that lead into their hiding spot were they hid for 2 years. This hideout was really small and they had to make sure to be really quite. I will not tell you everything but I think you should watch and read about her. Sadly the Nazis found them and she sadly died from a sickness. I loved reading about Anne Frank. I hope I learn much more about her in the future!

Matariki, Create task week 8!

                                                            Kia Ora!

WALT: Summarise and analyse ideas and information about the text. I think this Walt means gather a hole pile of information & ideas and turn it into a small text will using all of the information you gathered. 

As you may know we are celebrating Matariki for about a month! Matariki means it is the Maori new year! This is a really cool and good time to spend time with you family and learn a lot of cool things about Matariki! This week Ruru is learning and reading about Matariki. We had to watch 2 videos and read 2 story's about Matariki. The videos were really cool because they had a lot of information about Matariki that I didn't know before! They talked about the seven stars and facts about Matariki. The 2 story's talked talked about Matariki, where they can be seen, when you can see them, and other cool facts! They also talked about how some people have feasts and get up before dawn! This week we had to choose 2 create tasks to do out of 4! I loved the create tasks this week because they are all really fun to do. I hope you all like my working that I did this week! I would love it if you could comment and give me some feedback as well. How and what do you do to celebrate Matariki? 

Create task 1. (Must do) For this create task we had to watch 2 videos about Matariki and read 2 story/information about Matariki. Then we had to get a Matariki Summary template and write all the things we learnt in the boxes. For video 1 it had it own box and for the other video and story's/information. I liked doing this create task because you had to make sure you were paying attention to the videos and story's/information.


 

For the next create task/tasks we had 4 thing to choose from. 1. To make a animation about Matariki, 2. To make a Venn Diagram, 3. To make a word search 4. And to re-write a story of Matariki and change a few things. Out of these create tasks you have to pick 2. 


Create task 2. (Can do) For this create task you had to make a Venn Diagram about Matariki and another thing. This was really fun to do because I liked coming up with stuff!


Create task 1. (Can do) This was to create an animation of Matariki! I did it on a google slide. This was really fun to make because I always like to make a animation. I really like the way my animation of Matariki turned out!!

This week I really liked doing all the work and i'm really happy on how my blog post turned out. The hard thing for me this week was probably doing the animation because it took me a while to do but I think it turned out great! My favorite part was the Venn Diagram because I liked thinking of different things to put! I hope you liked my blog post, bye!!

The Wonky Donkey

 Hey readers!

As you may know this week is book week! So most of our books were really popular books. The books were, Hairy Maclary, Where the wild things are, The Wonky Donkey, You are special, When Pigasso meets, The empty pot, A bad case of the stripes and Peter Rabbit! I did The Wonky Donkey because I really like the story. The Wonky Donkey was really fun to watch the video! The Wonky Donkey is about a Donkey signing while walking down the road this song/story is a really fun way to describe the Donkey while singing! And it's really fun to try and say all the words really fast! This week was really fun to do. This week our school also had a performance named Rumpelstiltskin! and on Thursday we had a dress up day! 

WALT: Make connections to ourselves, other texts and the world

I think this walt means to connect to someone/something to yourself other texts (movie and books) 


Create task 1: For this create task we had to write connections to ourselves other texts (books, movies) and then the world! I was reading the wonky donkey. You had to find connections to yourself like may the Donkey is spunky like you! Then other texts like the movie Shrek because there is a Donky in it! And the world like meat, and Donkey crisis because it is in the world!

Create task 2: For this create task we had to get the book you were reading (wonky donkey) and make a Venn diagram you also had to use one of the other books (I chose Peter Rabbit) and out it on the other side then you had to think of things they have in common. A Venn Diagram is when you get something and you describe it then you get another thing and you describe it then in the middle of the 2 circles you put similarities the 2 things share.  
Create task 3: We had to choose a connection (I did the Donkey crisis) and fill in the questions about your connection.

What happened?

  • Donkeys today are subject to a shocking epidemic of illegal capture, inhumane treatment and mass slaughter in many African countries and elsewhere, like Brazil and Pakistan, in order to serve the exploding demands of the traditional Chinese medicine market.

Create task 3 part 2: For this create task we had to make a animation about the chosen text I did the donkey crisis!  The Donkey crisis is where people are killing Donkeys and turning them into medicine for people.

The thing I found hard was finding information about the donkey crisis as there was a lot of things to read. My favorite part was when I was filling out the information for create task 3 because I was reading for a while.

The Goldilocks Story!

 Hey everyone.

The Goldilocks Story: The Goldilocks story is about a family, Papa bear, Mama bear and Ba Ba bear. They were walking around and then they saw Goldilocks house they went in their and wanted to be apart of the fairy tale. Soon after a little person came in and said that's my sheep! (Ba Ba bear) She tried to take them but it didn’t work. Then Goldilocks came in a scared the person away (that person was really the big bad wolf)

Complementary text: Once there was a little girl and one day she went outside and saw a animal she chased it into the woods and soon she found a scary house. In the middle of no where. After that she was inside and she ate up the food then she fell asleep on the beds.

Challenge text: Their is a girl and she is super red riding hood, when she puts on her cloak she becomes a superhero! Her name is also Ruby. 

WALT: Synthesize ideas and information in a narrative text.

Create task 2: For this create task we had to draw a comic of the story we were reading. I was reading The Goldilocks Story so I made a comic of what happens in the story. After we had done that we had to colour it in. Then we had to take a photo on the ipad and insert it into our blog post.




Create task 3: For create task 3 we had to come up with a new fairy tale and write it in a doc.
 First we had to plan it to. I have not finished the hole story but I will copy paste it below

It was a tropical summer day. The birds were chirping and the trees were swaying side to side. The sun was shining through the tall green trees. Every step the Andrew family took the leaves crunched. A little boy named Jack was swinging from tree to tree like a monkey. Shay was amazed by what she was seeing. All the photos she saw of forests were right in front of her. Mum, Dad and Nick were busy taking photos of birds and trees. “I’m so glad we decided to go for a hike” said Dad “yes it’s so relaxing and the kids love it!” replied Mum “Mum can me, Jack and Nick go exploring?” “hmm…” It was silent for a minute. “I suppose so just don’t get lost and be back within 3 hours we will be here looking at the wildlife.” “YAY” the kids yelled “Oh and don’t get hur-” They had already run off in excitement. “Hurt” said Mum “We should make a hut” “We should climb trees” “no we should-” “bang” all of a sudden Jack, Nick and Shay all fell over...pause it right there! Hi i’m Amelia and right now you might be thinking “How did they all fall over at the same time” well that's what I was thinking until… “owww” they cried. They were laying face down on the ground. They sat up and they were looking to see why they fell over but nothing was there. They were sitting on the ground but there was absolutely nothing they had tripped over. Maybe they just lost their balance? But how all at the same time. “How is that possible” “uhhh '' they got up and brushed the leaves off their clothes. They all started laughing “hahaha” “haha” suddenly Shay saw something run behind the tree. Then Nick saw it. Then Jack! “Hello?” “is anyone here?” Shay, Nick and Jack huddled together in fear.`

Paekakariki Flood

 Hey everyone!


Flood: Flood is about a family and their pets! Ama and Lucky (their cat) were asleep on the couch! Mum was in the kitchen with Poppy (their dog) suddenly Amas mum lead Ama, Poppy and Lucky outside! There was a flood. A few moments later they were all safe in a house on top of a hill. This is a true story and it took place in October, 2003.

Complementary: A kid came home and his shoes were all soggy and wet and water was dripping from them! His mum asked “why are your socks all wet?” He told her about how his school flooded! It happened because they were doing an science experiment.


Challenge: The video teaches you what is in a flood how it works and how dangerous it can be. How to moves and where it can go.

The hungry wave

 Hey everyone!

The hungry zone: The hungry wave is about a tsunami that occurred in Samoa and in Tonga in 2009. There was a big earthquake and then there was a big tsunami it hit a lot of villages and killed 189 people. The story is about survivors and stories of what happened to them on that day. The family was getting ready for school and then the big earthquake struck them. It lasted for ages but then they have to go to school. When they were walking out the door they saw that the tide was going in and the ocean soon turned into mud. They could see all of the Coral that was in the ocean. The two kids tried climbing up a hill but then the tsunami hit Ana. She was washed away by the tsunami but her brother climbed up onto a tree and soon saw her head bobbing up and down out of the river he grabbed her hair and pulled her up onto the branch no one in their village died but other people were not so lucky. The characters in the book were Ava her brother Niko and Mika and their little brother.

Challenge text: The challenge text is about a little girl who learnt to make a tornato with 2 water bottles! Her teacher told her that water in the top bottle is replacing the air in the bottom bottle and as it goes down the tube makes a spinning vortex. It also happens in a bath! Then she went somewhere where a bad storm was brewing. There were dark clouds, that means that's a warning for a tornato!

Complementary text: The complementary text shows you what makes a tsunami. They show how tsunamis are formed and what they do.

Wild things

 Hey everyone!

Wild things: Wild things is about a family that went to their friends Bach, They got their but the kids didn’t expect the house to look like that because their friend said it was rustic but it was more rusty. The first night they stayed their they heard a weird sound outside and when their dad and the 2 kids went out there they saw a possum with red evil eyes! The next morning they tried to make a possum trap but things didn’t go as planned… The characters are the kids dad, and the dads 2 kids!

Complementary text: A possum called batman was struggling to eat after the soft roof of his mouth when he was ripped from his mothers pouch by a hunter.Too young to regulate his body temperature, the six-week-old is fed through a tube by his carer, who tends to his need, trying to keep him alive.


Challenge text: In 1837 some of New Zealand’s early European settlers brought Australian possums to New Zealand hoping to start a fur industry. These first possums did not survive, but people kept trying. The first possum population to survive was in South land in 1858. In 1921 the Government made it illegal to bring any more possums to New Zealand. But by then, possums were already living in 450 different parts of New Zealand.

The weird zone

Hey everyone! 

This week I had to read a book called the weird zone! The weird zone is about a family that usually goes camping every boxing day, however the mum and dad had just broke up...It’s boxing day - the day we always leave to go camping- and Dad’s being weird. We find him in the bathroom, reading a comic in the bath “Dad! What are you doing?, we need to hit the road!” after a while once they had got to the camp their dad opened up to them and said “It’s just that well, we used to be doing this trip with your mum, you know that, it’s a family tradition. And yes she did put up the tent i’m not practical! We nod again, it’s different this year, i’ll be sleeping on my own, I guess i’m just a bit lonely”...The field mouse was gathering wild beans for the winter his neighbor came down to graze down at the meadow, the little field mouse did not like that...Do you like riding a bike but not up mountains? The easy rider track is a simple track that are easy for 4 to 6 year olds! They found it very fun!

ANZAC

 Hey readers!

This week for our create tasks it was around ANZAC! We had an option of 5 create tasks but we had to do an minimum of 3! This was really fun to do! Giraffes

 Hey everyone!

This week and last week we had to choose an animal to learn about and to do our create tasks! I chose to do giraffes! This week we had to write 15-20 questions on a doc then put it on a google slide or a kahoot! I did it on a google slides because I find it fun to do on slides! If you do my quiz please tell me how much you got right in the comments! Then we had to do an Venn Diagram on the animal were reading about and another animal! I did it on giraffes and pandas. I chose to do it on an panda because they are really fluffy and cute! If we had finished all of that then we had to do an extra tasks! There were 4 to choose from! I chose to do the analysis task and you will find out what it's about when you look at my slide! This was very fun to do and I loved making an quiz! How did you find the quiz and what animal would you like to keep as a pet and why? I would like to have an monkey as a pet because they are cute and the swing around on everything!

My buggy!

 Hey everyone!

This week we had to make a buggy that will be good for our planet! This was very fun to make. We got given a plan to write facts and what we would need to have on the outside of the buggy and write labels! I wanted it to look friendly and so it wouldn't scare the animals that live there! Space food!!

 Hey everyone!

Last week and this week we have been learning about space! This week I did the book Space food. This book was very interesting and fun to read. Space food was about a group of kids trying to find out how they could go to space...but what about the food? They had to do some research and find out how they could go to space without all their food going moldy! As well as reading that we also had to read the scaffolding text and the complementary and the challenge text! With the template we got given we had to write 5 facts from each of the texts (complementary, challenge, scaffolding text) on the template! Then we had to show a teacher and then we had to make a poster on piktochart! This was very fun to do and I hope you have fun reading my work!

My planet! (reading tasks)

Hey everyone!

This week our hub have been learning about space! I loved doing this because I think space is very interesting! This week we had a pile of books about space to read about! I chose to do return ticket, please. This book was really fun to read because it told you about planets and some cool cool facts you may not have known! The first create task we had to do was to create your own planet and to use your imagination! It could be a jelly planet, rock planet, donuts planet, anything you wanted it to be! And to fill in the information! Then we had to put the information and the planet we made on a googles slide and tell you about it! I loved doing this because it was fun to create your own planet and write information about it! I created my planet like that because I wanted to be a safe planet and it to look cool, I also wanted animals to live on it so I put in 2 animals I like! Would you like to visit my planet?

Friends create tasks (reading)

 Hey everyone!

This is my first post of 2021 and I am glad to share it with you! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday! This week we had to choose a book to read and make create tasks on, I chose friends! This week our create tasks were mainly about friendship and what makes a good friend! First we had to choose a character from the book we were reading and make an character profile template! I chose Lucia because she is a great fun, bubbly friend in the story. The next create task was to make a poster or animation on what makes a good friend, I did a poster because I think it's a great way to see reasons on how to be a good friend. I had so much fun making this and I hope you have fun looking at what ive been doing this week.
